# Reddit managed account setup

> Client-owned Reddit advertising, FloKit partner access, explicit assets, permissions and verification.

> [!WARNING]

## Ownership and control

The client owns the Reddit Business, advertiser account, brand display profile, measurement assets and funding arrangement. FloKit is the managing partner. Campaigns created through FloKit belong to the selected client advertiser account, not a pooled FloKit advertiser.

The client retains ownership and can withdraw access. FloKit manages only authorized assets and approved campaign operations. Account ownership, who funds advertising, who can edit campaigns, which identity authors ads, and who may send conversion data are separate decisions.

This is the same ownership principle as [managed Meta setup](https://docs.flokitai.com/guides/meta-managed-account-setup.md), not a promise that Reddit uses Meta's credential-issuance APIs.

## Before connecting

| Owner | Prerequisite | Evidence to confirm |
| - | - | - |
| Client administrator | Client Reddit Business and intended advertiser | Actual owner business and advertiser ID, account status, currency and time zone |
| Client administrator | Brand display profile | The identity that should appear on the ads |
| Client administrator | Pixel | The intended measurement asset and its association with the advertiser |
| Client and FloKit | Delegated partner/asset access | The precise advertiser, profile and Pixel FloKit may access |
| FloKit administrator | FloKit developer application | Working callback, approved application configuration and supported authorization mode |
| Client budget owner | Funding and campaign approval | Agreed payer and approved campaign scope; connecting does not authorize spending |

Use existing suitable client assets rather than creating replacements merely because FloKit is involved. Do not create a client advertiser under FloKit's business and label it client-owned. Keep account recovery with the owner and use named operator access instead of sharing passwords.

## Step 1: establish client-to-FloKit delegation

The client administrator establishes the partnership in Reddit Business Manager and shares the intended assets with FloKit. Verify the advertiser account, display profile and Pixel independently. Finding FloKit in a partner list does not prove that every required asset or operation is authorized.

Reddit's current Ads API does not expose a Business Manager partner-relationship read equivalent to TikTok's Business Center partner API. FloKit's automated verification therefore proves that the selected advertiser is client-owned, the authorized member can operate it, and that member is associated with FloKit's configured Reddit Business. The native partner relationship remains a setup prerequisite confirmed during onboarding; FloKit does not present delegated member access as an API-verified partnership record.

The provider interface can vary by account. Use the current Business Manager asset-sharing screens and record the resulting IDs and permissions rather than relying on a remembered role label. If an expected asset cannot be shared or read, stop at that prerequisite. Do not substitute a different advertiser to make setup appear complete.

See [Reddit Business Manager partnerships](https://www.business.reddit.com/blog/partners-in-reddit-business-manager) and [Reddit's shared-account discovery limitation](https://ads-api.reddit.com/docs/v3/api/list-ad-accounts-by-business).

## Step 2: authorize the application

An authorized operator completes Reddit's OAuth consent for FloKit. A Business Manager partnership and application authorization are separate steps. Neither requires sending a password, access token or refresh token to FloKit staff by email or chat.

| Capability | Reddit scope | What it does not authorize by itself |
| - | - | - |
| Reporting | `adsread` | Campaign editing, conversion delivery or spending |
| Campaign management | `adsedit` | Unapproved activation, budget changes or access to unrelated clients |
| Conversion delivery | `adsconversions` | Sending customer data without the App's delivery configuration and required consent |

Ongoing user authorization requires a refreshable grant. A temporary grant must be presented as a setup limitation, not a durable connection. FloKit stores credentials on its server and uses the permissions actually granted by Reddit.

### Shared accounts and system users

Reddit's system-user program is a distinct authorization mode. Its documented restriction is important: a business system user can access accounts owned directly by that business, but not accounts shared into it. A FloKit-owned system user is therefore not a replacement for delegated user access to a client-owned advertiser.

A client-business system-user grant may be appropriate when supported and qualified for that client. It must be identified as that principal type, not confused with a human grant or Meta's on-behalf-of flow. Follow the current [Reddit system-user documentation](https://ads-api.reddit.com/docs/v3/guides/programs/business/system-users). Do not switch an existing working connection to a new authorization mode without verification.

## Step 3: select the exact client assets

Open the correct client App in FloKit, then **Governance > Integrations > Reddit Ads**. Complete authorization and explicitly select the client advertiser, display profile and Pixel. Nothing should be chosen merely because it is the first or only returned option.

Confirm that changing the advertiser reloads that advertiser's profile and Pixel options. A profile's own identifier and its Reddit user identifier have different provider meanings; the operator should select the displayed brand identity, not manually substitute one ID for another.

If a partner-shared account is missing, contact FloKit support. Reddit's owned-account list excludes shared accounts, so an incomplete discovery path can hide a valid delegation. Do not solve that by changing ownership, choosing a pooled FloKit account or granting access to unrelated assets.

## Step 4: qualify without activating advertising

Connection readiness should be assessed separately for authorization, asset binding, reporting, paused campaign preparation, conversion delivery and launch approval. The current integration prepares campaigns paused and treats activation as a separate approved operation.

Before launch, FloKit verifies the selected advertiser and assets, reads inventory/reporting, validates the approved campaign specification and reads back any permitted paused objects. A provider minimum above the approved amount is a blocker, not permission to raise the budget. A new account with no historical spend can prove a reporting request succeeds, but not reconcile revenue from campaigns that never ran.

## Step 5: verify the served Flow and measurement

The actual public Flow must contain the correct runtime and configuration. An already-published page may retain its earlier sealed runtime; only the selected approved publication should be updated when necessary.

Verify consent handling, landing attribution, quiz behavior and checkout independently of tracker availability. Reddit tracking must not block navigation or payment. A quiz completion is not a purchase, a free trial is not paid revenue, and duplicate payment notifications must not create additional acquisitions.

For browser/server events representing the same occurrence, verify the shared conversion identity and deduplication using supported provider test facilities. A granted conversion scope does not mean delivery is enabled. Live customer-data delivery and real-payment testing require the appropriate consent, configured destination and approved test scope.

## Troubleshooting

| Symptom | Check | Do not do |
| - | - | - |
| No client account appears | Partner/shared discovery, actual grant, incomplete pagination and account access | Select an unrelated advertiser or assume the client has no account |
| Authorized but setup unfinished | Explicit advertiser/profile/Pixel selection and the current setup state | Treat OAuth completion as full launch readiness |
| Profile or Pixel missing | Asset association with the selected advertiser and asset permissions | Copy an ID from another account |
| Reporting works but editing fails | Granted editing scope, current provider permission and App setup authorization | Broaden access to every client |
| No conversion appears | Consent, App delivery state, selected Pixel, served runtime and provider acceptance | Send fake production purchases |
| Authorization expires or is revoked | Reauthorize the intended connection and revalidate its bindings | Paste a new token into a support ticket |

## Offboarding

Decide whether campaigns should continue under the client's management or stop. When a pause is required, verify it before revoking FloKit's authority. Disconnecting FloKit does not itself pause campaigns already running in Reddit.

Remove only the intended agency/application access. Preserve the client's account, assets, history and other agency relationships. Retained historical reporting must not be rewritten by rebinding or disconnecting.

## Completion checklist

Completion requires a verified client owner, verified FloKit delegation, a usable application grant, explicit advertiser/profile/Pixel binding, a tested non-spending campaign path, the correct served Flow and the applicable measurement evidence. Spend starts only after a separate approved launch. If a step is blocked, show the missing action and whether the client, FloKit or Reddit must resolve it.
